Not every state in the US requires two party consent to record a conversation. In many places it's not illegal. I think bringing to light the actions of judicial committees is far more important.

Using Illegal Means for Righteous Activism
by John Davis ini wanted to get people's opinion on something.
how do you feel when people use illegal means while performing their activism to shed light on the watchtower.
there have been people who have illegally recorded conversations with elders and with branch offices or at meetings.

by pale.emperor intrying not to type swearwords as i write this so bare with me.. my little 3yo attends meetings with her jw mum (who doesn't believe watchtower anymore but is stuck in because she relies on her family for help).
my mum (the one who tells people im dead) had a party for her grandchildren.
that's my 4 nieces and 1 nephew aged from 3yo-11yo.

This makes me so mad, but unfortunately it's not an isolated incident. I have recently heard a similar experience regarding a relatives 3 1/2 year old child. But it does make me believe that these little ones will never join the cult after being treated so badly.

Another example of the smothering and high control nature of JW husbands
by stuckinarut2 ini have noticed another popular pattern of behaviour amongst witnesses in recent years.. many, and i mean lots of ones with instagram accounts have closed the wife's account, and have started a "couple's" account instead.
also, for families.
the children's accounts have been closed, and the husband starts a "family account".. it is mainly on the husband's device, and seemingly under his control.

It's a way to make sure conformity is maintained. No one can develop their own personality, interests, fashion, etc.

Huge article(s) in Dutch media on JW child abuse
by Anders Andersen inso today the well-respected and serious newspaper trouw.nl came with child abuse within the jw as their topmost frontpage article.. the articles are well researched and aim primarily at the dutch jw situation.. afaik at least on member of this forum assisted the newspaper with the articles.
.
other media are picking up as well.....

One of my never JW friends said" so if you have consensual sex with another adult, they will disfellowship you, but if you rape a child they do not?" I said" yep, that's how it works."

Believers: How do you know your view of your chosen holy book is the correct one?
by punkofnice indon't start fighting, darlings.
i am genuinely curious.
after all i was a jobo 50 years and thought the wbt$ was 100% correct.. i ask this because i see that, for example, christian denominations (or whatever), likely have differing interpretations of the same writing.
-
just fine
I don't think anyone has the right interpretation or view. I think we all draw our own conclusions and beliefs based on our experiences. Religion stunts that discovery by drawing conclusions for us and proclaiming their conclusions are 100% correct, then many people stop exploring.

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but perhaps you are missing some of the pictures you are supposed to be choosing? It only does that to me when I do something wrong....... -

I went Elder Hunting yesterday!
by Tight Pants Twinkle Toes inwin my first post i introduced you to tweedle dee and tweedle dum, ( surprise elders visit ).
well last sunday night i got phone call from t- dum, he informed me that t-dee was listening in, no doubt practicing his short hand.
t-dum went on to say how he was concerned that we were making the biggest mistake of our lives, yada yada.

I usually don't engage, but when witnesses have trouble minding their own business, sometimes you have to remind them how invasive it is when someone sticks their nose in your business.

Have you ever looked back at your early posts on here?
by stuckinarut2 inno doubt we are all overjoyed at how we have progressed since breaking the shackles of the society!.
for those that have been here on this forum for some time, have you ever looked back at the version of "you" that first started posting here, and compared yourself with where you are at now?.
i am overjoyed at how much i have grown as a person!.

And...... we have been allowed to grow as persons, change our minds, explore new ideas. Something we never would have been able to do before.

"You're going to die in Armageddon"
by Jules Saturn ini'm sure i am not the only one to have heard this come out of the mouths of my loved ones.
it's a very painful thing to hear, especially when it comes from the people like your own parents/family.
even after i've been told that, they would say "we'll just continue life without you.
-

Been told this too. My response now is " Nope, going to die just like you and every other person who has ever lived."

There is no true religion.
by atomant inl came to this conclusion based on the fact that humans are imperfect living in an imperfect world.the bible was written by imperfect human hands and is impossible to interpret with 100% accuracy.religion is man made to help control the masses..

There is not one true religion or path or course. We all have to find our way and what works for us.
